On October 1, Most High by Cabinet Order ( AKO ) has ordered the establishment of a hunter -to- Horse Regiment to five squadrons.

These had to give:

  • The Uhlan Regiment No. 16, the 4th Squadron
  • The regiment royal hunters on horseback No. 1, the 3rd Squadron
  • Dragoon Regiment No. 8, the 3rd Squadron
  • The Hussars 12, the 3rd Squadron
  • The Hussar Regiment No. 6, the 5th Squadron

First commander of the regiment was Major von Roden.

World War I

After mobilization in July 1914, the regiment took over the protection of the Russian border in Upper Silesia. Then it moved to the West, where it participated in the battles of Neuchateau and Tintigny. By August 1915, the regiment knew accordance with its mission and message messenger services until it was used as infantry in the area of Vimy and Arras in September 1915. At the beginning of 1916, the regiment was moved to the eastern theater of war, where it used to border security in Courland, Lithuania and Russian Poland. This also included the control of mergers armed Russian deserters and other, not the combatant status belongs Direction armed groups of the population.

On January 31, 1919, the regiment was disbanded in Tarnowitz.

The tradition of the regiment later took over the A Squadron of the Reichswehr Rider Regiment No. 8 in Brieg.

Uniform

The tunic was made of cloth with gaugrünem Swedish lapels and yellow buttons. Collar, advances and bonuses were bright green, the color light blue badge. On the shoulder pieces there was the regimental number. The leather equipment was black. Officers wore the Kürassierhelm with Dragoon Eagle, NCOs and other ranks of the dragoon helmet. In general, the dragoon boots were used. The Bandelier was provided only for officers.

Since the envisaged when setting up the regiments for the teams Kürassierhelm - from blackened steel, but with fittings made of nickel silver instead Tombak as for the first seven regiments - were not available, these regiments were equipped with the dragoon helmet. Only in 1915 was the conversion to the originally planned features.
