1,2,4-triazole is a chemical compound selected from the group of triazoles. It is in the form of colorless scales.

Production and representation

1,2,4-triazole can be recovered by further nitration of imidazole or Einhorn -Brunner reaction or Pellizzari reaction.

Use

1,2,4-triazole is used as additive in fertilizers and as an intermediate for the preparation of fungicides, by an addition reaction with epoxides or other electrophiles for compounds. Triazole derivatives as nitrotriazolone or ANTA find as a novel, insensitive explosives application.

Safety

At high temperatures, 1,2,4- triazole decomposed to oxides of nitrogen and explosion hazard (flash point 170 ° C, ignition temperature about 490 ° C ) is given.
