1969 Argentine Primera División

The Primera División in 1969 was the 39th season of the Argentine Football League Primera División. This was divided into two semi-annual championships, each brought forth an Argentinian master. In the first half of the Torneo Metropolitano took place, the second half was played in the Torneo Nacional. This mode is maintained until the year 1985, before the play in Europe one adapted itself and no longer played in the calendar year, but from summer to summer.

Torneo Metropolitano

The Torneo Metropolitano was the first semi-annual championship. It began on 21 February and ended on 6 July 1969. Initially, two groups were formed, the two best-placed teams met in two semi-final matches. From these semi-finals, the two finalists were determined. These were in 1969, Chacarita Juniors and River Plate. The Chacarita Juniors prevailed in the final game in the end and became the first and to date only time in the club's Argentine master.

River Plate reached the final despite draw against Boca Juniors because, in the first, discharged in league mode phase, was able to collect more points than the opponent.

Torneo Nacional

The Torneo Nacional was played with eighteen participants who played once each against each other in league system. It began on 5 September and ended on 14 December 1969.

At the end of the Torneo Nacional, the Boca Juniors were able to prevail and was the eleventh time in the club's history of Argentine football champion.
