1974 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship

The Volleyball Women's World Cup 1974 was held from October 12 to 27 held in Mexico. Japan won the title for the third time. The Games were held in Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, Tijuana, Toluca and Mexico City.

Mode

The 23 participants played in the first round in five groups of four and three. In the second round, the teams were divided into six groups according to their rankings again. The group winners and runners- the upper half determined in a final group of six teams the new world champion. The other teams played in other groups from the ranks 7-23.
