1979–80 French Rugby Union Championship
The 1979/80 season was the 81st staging of the French rugby union championship. It included 40 teams in the top league ( of today's top 14).
The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group phase in which ten teams in four groups played against each other. The eight winners of each group moved into the K - o.Runde. This was followed by sixteenth, eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the final game, which took place in Paris on 25 May 1980 at the Parc des Princes, came together the two semi-final winners and played for the Bouclier de Brennus. Here, the AS Béziers won against Stade Toulousain and won for the eighth time the championship.
