The Faroe Islands Football Championship 1987 was held in the first Deild said first Faroese league and overall was the 45th season. It started on 25 May 1987 and ended on 20 September 1987.

Movers VB Vágur returned after five years back in the top flight. Champion TB Tvøroyri who could thus win the title for the seventh time. Defending GÍ Gøta landed on the third place. Since the league next season should be extended to ten teams, there were no losers in this year.

In comparison to the previous season, the strike rate deteriorated to 3.18 per game. The highest victory achieved HB Tórshavn with a 8-0 at home to VB Vágur on the ninth match day, which at the same time on the seventh match represented the highest-scoring game in addition to the 6:2 home win against HB Tórshavn KÍ Klaksvík.

Course of the season

HB Tórshavn occupied the first ten game days throughout the first place, the first defeat on Matchday was collected with a 0-1 in the away game against B68 Toftir. The final phase was, however, turbulent. On the tenth Gameday the direct duel against the two points placed behind HB GÍ Gøta away was lost with 1:4, also was the third-place finisher TB Tvøroyri after a 3-0 away win against KÍ Klaksvík also catch up on points. After the 2:3 home defeat of HB on the eleventh game against NSÍ Runavík the top position was taken over by GÍ, which in turn came to a 2-2 draw in the away game against LIF Leirvík while TB lost at B68 Toftir 0:1. Next Already on game The lead changed again as the home game of GÍ was lost with 1-2 against VB Vágur and TB and HB parted in a direct duel with 2:2. National Cup

In the National Cup HB Tórshavn won 3-0 in the replay against second division ÍF Fuglafjørður. Master TB Tvøroyri bowed out 0-2 and 1-0 against HB Tórshavn.
