2003–04 2. Bundesliga

In the 2nd Bundesliga 2003 /04 the 1st FC Nuremberg, Arminia Bielefeld and the first FSV Mainz 05 achieved promotion to the Bundesliga.

Course of the season

With the 1st FC Nuremberg one of the big favorites prevailed quite early. 31 Gameday Already on the club secured a 3-1 win at Arminia Bielefeld Followers premature promotion to the top division. Those from Bielefeld could get over it but: Even before the final day they too stood firm as a climber.

It was thus the third and final climb legitimate rank, by which the last round then fought four teams. For Alemannia Aachen the season ended tragically. With a 0-1 at relegation-threatened Karlsruher SC they fell from the ski places to sixth place from before them a week later lost the DFB Cup final against Werder Bremen 2:3. Thus ended a previously successfully runny season without countable success and with the resignation of Jörg Berger. After all, the Alemannia qualified by participating in the DFB Cup final for the UEFA Cup, because Werder Bremen was able to participate in the coming season in the Champions League.

The rise ultimately succeeded 1 FSV Mainz 05, who previously missed him in the two years already twice extremely unhappy. Until the final day, the Mainz in the second half not once stood by on a promotion place.

Disappointing ended the season for the SSV Jahn Regensburg, who had right back after the first second division climb to the amateurs back. It looked for a long time good for the novice who still stood until the 27th Round in ninth place and slipped in the last three games of the relegation places. The Karlsruher SC was able to free himself from a tricky situation again on the final day against it.
