2006–07 2. Bundesliga

The 2nd Bundesliga 2006/ 07 started on 11 August 2006 and ended on 20 May 2007. During this season than last year's relegation from the Bundesliga 1.FC Kaiserslautern, 1.FC Köln and MSV Duisburg were represented. Up from the regional leagues were the FC Augsburg and TuS Koblenz from the Regionalliga Süd and Rot-Weiss Essen and FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the Regionalliga Nord.

The first climber stable since 31 matchday of the Karlsruher SC. It turned this on the record, the first team since the introduction of the single-track 2nd Bundesliga to stand every match of the season on a promotion place. At the last match Hansa Rostock and MSV Duisburg could make the climb also perfect. The fourth-placed SC Freiburg, with 41 points awarded in the second half on a new second division record for the best half of the season, while Hansa Rostock did not lose a game before the winter break.

First was relegated Eintracht Braunschweig, which had no mathematical possibility of more on the league after the 30th game day. Three weeks later was also Wacker Burghausen firmly relegated. Here Wacker was placed over on a relegation all season. After an exciting final day ( 0:3 in Duisburg) also had to Rot-Weiss Essen and take the SpVgg Unterhaching (1:3 in Rostock) the transition to the third league, FC Carl Zeiss Jena ( 2-1 in Augsburg) and Kickers Offenbach ( 1-1 against Braunschweig) were saved.
