2009 Vuelta al Táchira

The 44th Vuelta al Táchira took place from 6 to 17 January, 2009 in Venezuela instead. The bicycle race was held in twelve stages over a distance of 1355 kilometers. It was part of the UCI America Tour in 2009 and was classified there in the category 2.2.

Overall winner of the stage race was the local Ronald González of Lotería del Táchira with just seven seconds ahead of his Venezuelan countryman Tomás Gil ( Gobierno de Carabobo Fundadeporte ). The podium was completed by Jonathan Monsalve ( Hussein Sports Gobierno Barinas ), who also secured the victory in the points classification and the combined score. Last year's winner Manuel Medina in 2009 was 53 seconds behind González sixth and won the mountains classification. In the sprint Victor Moreno was able to repeat his success of 2008.

Participant

At the start were teams from Argentina, Slovakia, Mexico, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands and Venezuela, including two national teams. A total of fifteen teams participated. With Christoph Springer and Henrik Wolter of the team Heraklion - Nessebar also two German in the race took part.
