2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup Group A

The Group A of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2011 was one of three groups in which the first round matches of the tournament were played. It consisted of four teams: Costa Rica, Mexico, Cuba and El Salvador. The games were held to 12 June 2011 of 5 June. The venues were Dallas, Charlotte and Chicago.

Before the match against Mexico Cuba the Mexican Football Federation Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación took five players from the squad. This was due to a positive doping test. The player Guillermo Ochoa, Francisco Rodriguez, Therezinha, Christián Bermúdez and Édgar Duenas tested positive for the drug clenbuterol. At present, it is assumed that the players have come in contact with the consumption of chicken meat with the substance. The second sample was negative and Mexico could replace the suspended players.
