2011 Men's World Team Squash Championships

The 23rd World Team Championship for Men (English 2011 Men 's World Team Squash Championships ) was held from 21 to 27 August 2011 in Paderborn, Germany. A total of 32 teams competed.

The Egyptian team managed to successfully defend the title. After 1999 and 2009, Egypt won for the third time the World Team Championship, after it had first sovereign in the group stage and then enforced in the final round clearly against Germany and the United States. In the semifinals against France, only the third game brought the decision, and Mohamed El Shorbagy just against Mathieu Castagnet kept the upper hand. In the final, Egypt met the top-seeded Englishman who had defeated in the final round before Hong Kong, Italy and Australia. Ramy Ashour defeated in the first game of the Englishman Nick Matthew with 11:7, 11:9 and 14:12, before Peter Barker with 11:6, 11:9 and 11:7 against Hisham Mohd Ashour equalizer away. Karim Darwish of Egypt secured the title with a renewed 11:5, 13:11, 9:11 and 11:4 against James Willstrop.

Mode

The participating teams were in accordance with their translation in eight groups drawn against each other, the group size varied between three and four teams. Within the groups robin mode was played in the round, the top two teams reached the finals, which were held in the knockout system. In the tournament all the seats were played.

All teams consisted of at least three and at most five players that had to be reported in the order of their skill level. Three individual lots were denied per encounter. A team had won when their players were able to win two individual lots. The order of play of each lot was independent of the signaling sequence of the players.

Final placements

The Italian team ended the tournament after a 1-2 defeat against Malaysia initially from the 6th Place. As part of the tournament, the Italians Stéphane Galifi was however getestest positive for cannabis at a doping test. Galifi, which had already been occupied for the same reason in 2005 with a two -year ban, has been banned by the World Squash Federation again for two years. Italy was in accordance with the rules subsequently disqualified from the World Championships and the last seat back.
