2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualification

For the fourth edition of the AFC Challenge Cup to 20 organizations had reported. To determine the eight finalists was a qualification necessary.

Mode

Unlike in previous years, this discharge no team was set for the final round. All 20 reported teams have to play in the qualifiers. Of the eligible countries East Timor, Guam, and suspended by the world governing body FIFA Brunei did not participate. Based on the results of the AFC Challenge Cup 2010, the teams were divided into two groups, the twelve higher seeded teams were set directly for the group stage of the qualification, the eight weaker teams played in four playoff games by a further four places in the group stage. The 16 qualified for the group stage national teams were drawn into four groups of four teams. The group matches will be played in simple league system, each in a city, the two group best of each group will qualify for the finals.

The draw for the group stage on 20 October 2010 resulted in the following groups:

  • Group A: Myanmar, Palestine, Bangladesh, winner of playoff 2 (Philippines)
  • Group B: Turkmenistan, India, winner of playoff 3 (Chinese Taipei ), Pakistan
  • Group C: Tajikistan, Maldives, winner of playoff 4 (Cambodia), Kyrgyzstan
  • Group D: North Korea, winner of playoff 1 (Afghanistan), Nepal, Sri Lanka

Games in Male, Maldives; Venue Rasmee - Dhandu Stadium
