2012 AFC Challenge Cup

The final round of the fourth AFC Challenge Cup was held until March 19, 2012 in Nepal on 8. The winner was the second time the team from North Korea, who won the final against Turkmenistan as 2010.

Host

The Asian Association announced before the tournament that one of the teams qualified for the final tournament organizers would be .. Of the eight participating countries, Nepal, Palestine and the Maldives had shown interest in hosting, on 27 July 2011, the decision was made in favor of Nepal.

Qualification

Unlike the previous editions, no team was automatically qualified for the finals. Until the official deadline to 20 member associations had registered for participation. The 12 highest ranked teams moved directly into the second round, while the remaining eight identified the remaining four participants, in home and away matches. In the second round, the teams were divided into four groups of four teams in the league format against each other. The top two in each group qualified for the final tournament.

Preliminary round

The four teams were divided into two groups (A and B) in the championship system against each other, ie, each team played once against every other team in the group. In the group stage, scored a victory three, one for a draw, a defeat brought no points. In each group table, the points were added.

Case of a tie between two teams decided in the following order over the place in the table and getting ahead: the matches between the teams in question (larger number of points, goal difference, goals scored ), the goal difference and greater number of goals scored in all group matches and eventually the lot.

In the semi-finals and the final was played in the knockout system. Had there been a draw 90 minutes of regular playing time in the games of the final round, it would be the extension of two periods of 15 minutes, and possibly (if no winner would still have stood firm ) came to the penalty shootout. Since all games were decided in the regular season, this rule was not applied.
