2016 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships

The 80th Ice Hockey World Championship for Men will be held in 2016 in Russia. Venues are Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Russia was most recently in 2007 the World Cup from. Moreover, the country hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics, which were held in Sochi.

In order to host Russia, Denmark with Copenhagen and Herning as well as Ukraine had originally advertised with two halls in Kiev. Denmark and Ukraine withdrew their applications back before the vote. For Denmark and the Ukraine it would have been the first World Championships; Ukraine had already failed with applications for the 2014 and 2015 tournaments. The tournament was awarded at the annual congress of the IIHF in May 2011 in Bratislava.

The 17th IIHF World Women's Championship will be held in Canada. The venue is not fixed yet.

The 40th Ice Hockey World Championship U20 Junior finds 2016 in Finland.

The 18th Ice Hockey World Championship U18 juniors will be held in the U.S. in April 2016.
