  • The Second Punic War ( 218-201 BC) begins. Hannibal takes over the Alps and defeated the Romans in numerous battles ( 217 BC Battle of Lake Trasimeno, in 216 BC Battle of Cannae ). 211 BC Hannibal is at the gates of Rome ( Hannibal ante portas ), but the city does not attack.
  • 212 BC: The Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang completed the Great Wall.
