319th Static Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 319th Infantry Division was a military major unit of the Wehrmacht.

Division history

The 319 ID was set up in November 1940 in Gera as a division of the 13 -up shaft. It was composed of units of the 87th, 169th and 299th Infantry Division. Throughout the Second World War, she was under the Naval High Command and served as an occupation force in the Channel Islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark in the English Channel (see also Atlantic fortress ).
