299th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 299th Infantry Division was a military major unit of the Wehrmacht.

The 299 ID was set up as a division of the 8th wave formation in February 1940 in Erfurt. In May 1940, the unit took part in the western campaign and fought in Luxembourg, Belgium and Sedan in France. In June 1941 she was transferred to the Eastern Front and was initially placed under the left wing of the 6th Army at Army Group South. After the bug is exceeded, the 299th ID marched in the region of Dubno and broke through at Nowograd Wolinskij the Stalin Line. The eight days of fighting between Zhitomir and Korosten led the IR 530 to a total of 685 casualties. In Zhulyany they crossed the Dnieper and participated in the Battle of Kiev. In 1942 she fought at Voronezh, 1943, she had a major operation in the tank battle of Kursk and in the battle of Gomel. Beginning of 1944 was the 299th ID focus as part of the 3rd Panzer Army on the road Orsha - Vitebsk in use. The 299 ID was in July 1944 destroyed in the boiler of Minsk during the collapse of Army Group Centre. The Corps Division G was formed from the division headquarters, which included the division group 299. On 1 September 1944, the 299th ID was set up again from the Corps Division G and destroyed again in March 1945 in the boiler of Heiligenbeil in East Prussia. Survivors were included in the Reich Labor Service - Division 1 " Infantry Division Schlageter " in the Battle of Berlin.
