(4621) Tambov

( 4621 ) Tambov is an asteroid of the inner main belt, which was discovered by Soviet astronomer Nikolai Chernykh on August 17, 1979 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj (IAU code 095). Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid it had previously been several: August 16, 1953, the provisional designation 1953 QJ at the Heidelberg State Observatory king chair, on 12 August 1964 ( 1964 PD) at the Goethe Link Observatory, Indiana as well as on 25 Mai 1971 (1971 KY) at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj.

The sun orbit of the asteroid is highly elliptical with an eccentricity of 0.2101. Mean distance from the sun ( semimajor axis), eccentricity and inclination of the orbital plane of the asteroids are within the respective limits that are defined for the Nysa group, one named after (44 ) Nysa group of asteroids (also called Hertha family, according to (135 ) Hertha).

( 4621 ) Tambov was named after the Russian city of Tambov, on 25 April 1994.
