6-Phosphogluconolactonase

6- phosphogluconolactonase ( 6PGL ) ( gene: PGLS ) is the enzyme that hydrolyzes the 6- phosphogluconolactone to 6 -phosphogluconate. This reaction is the second step in the pentose phosphate pathway part. 6PGL is found in most living things.

The expression of 6PGL is increased in breast cancer cells, could such a proteomics study show.

6- phosphogluconolactone is hydrolyzed to 6- phosphogluconate. Although the lactone hydrolyzed by itself, it has a certain stability, so that it could undergo undesirable reactions during his lifetime. This is remedied by the 6PGL.
