7 World Trade Center

7 World Trade Center, WTC 7 also short (Seven World Trade Center, World Trade Center German Building No. 7), is a skyscraper in New York City. The building was built on the site of the same old 7 World Trade Center, which had been destroyed as a result of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 due to falling debris of the North Tower of the WTC and subsequent fires. In 2006, the construction was completed. The address of the building is 250 Greenwich Street.

Architecture and description

As early as 2002 gave the building owner, the real estate company Silverstein Properties, the construction of the new 7 World Trade Center in order. In 2006 the building was officially opened. Thus it was the first building of the new World Trade Center complex, at the moment is still under construction. The new 7 World Trade Center is 228 meters high and has 52 floors. Thus, it surpasses the old 7 WTC by 53 meters and five stories. However, it is much slimmer figure than its predecessor. During the construction safety aspects played an important role. So the fire has been greatly improved, also owns the building a massive concrete core. The new 7 World Trade Center is considered one of the safest skyscraper in the world. The building, whose facade was completely lined with glass, was designed by the American architect David Childs of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. This has also created a 541 -meter-high One World Trade Center, which is located just a few meters from the 7 WTC under construction.
