A Band Called O

A Band Called O (also: Parlour Band, The O Band) was an English rock band from Jersey that existed from 1971 to 1977.

1971, the Jerseyer musician Craig Anders, Mark Anders, John Pix Picker Ford ( called Pix ) and Peter Filleul the " Parlour Band". A year later, the self-produced album " Is a Friend" was released, which was, however, very small sales.

1973 the band changed the name of " Parlour Band" in "A Band Called O " around, also it was taken by Epic Records. The following year, the band brought out the eponymous album "A Band Called O " followed by the album " Oasis " (1975).

For simplicity, called the band from the end of 1975 "The O Band". In addition, Derek Ballard and Jeff Bannister came to the group. For Pix Pickford, Filleul and Mark Anders left the next time the band. With Bannister changed the style of the band, adapting to the American scene. Furthermore, the band moved to United Artists Records.

With " Within Reach " did "The O Band" in 1976 their most successful album, out of which also includes the single " A Smile Is Diamond" was disengaged. That the 1977 album "The Knife" did not match it, and the band broke up. Both " Within Reach " and " The Knife " were Repertoire Records released the end of the 1980s on CD by the German label.
