Aaron Mokoena

Aaron Mokoena ( born November 25, 1980 in Johannesburg) is a South African soccer player and record - national team of his country. He is currently with the South African club Bidvest Wits under contract.

Career

Mokoena started his career with Jomo Cosmos. In 1998, he joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen, but moved out after one year to Ajax Amsterdam. In January 2001, he moved to Germinal Beerschot Antwerp. For the season 2003/ 04 moved to KRC Genk. From January 2005 to the end of the 2009 season he played for Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League. After the expiration of this contract, he joined the club Portsmouth.

Mokoena played for the first time at age 18 years, 2 months and 26 days for South Africa and is the youngest player who has played for South Africa.

With the South African national football team Mokoena participated in the World Cup 2002 and the African Cup of Nations in 2004, the African Cup of Nations 2008 and the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in part.

On 31 May 2010 he graduated from the 5-0 against Guatemala his 100th game.

He has played 107 international matches, where he was captain 63 times and is thus also record captaincy of his country.
