Abdalhaqq II.

Abu Muhammad ibn Uthman Abdalhaqq II (. Arabic أبو محمد عبد الحق بن عثمان, Abū Muḥammad ʿ DMG Abd al- Haqq b ʿ Uthman, * 1420, † 1465 ) was Sultan of Morocco from Marinids in 1421st

Abdalhaqq II was raised to the ruler of the Wattasidenwesiren after the assassination of his father Said Uthman (1398-1421) at the age of one year. In the following years he survived the ongoing power struggles between the viziers and governors of Wattasids.

1458 Abdalhaqq II tried to get rid of the supremacy of Wattasids by letting kill the entire clan. This massacre escaped only two brothers, inter alia, Muhammad ash- Shaykh al - Mahdi. In the aftermath Abdalhaqq tried the large influence of the marabouts and the religious brotherhoods curb by promoting the Sherif, especially the descendants of Idrisids. So it may be no coincidence that in 1437 the grave was discovered by Idris II, Fes, which soon developed into a major place of pilgrimage.

As Abdalhaqq wanted to cancel the tax exemption of religious brotherhoods and marabouts because of financial problems, which led to increased resistance against the "godless " rulers. While he just fought in 1465 the Portuguese in Ceuta, it came in Fes at a coup in which the Idriside Muhammad ibn al - Imrami al - Dschudi was proclaimed imam. Abdalhaqq fell while trying to put down the rebellion in Fes.

However, the following power struggles did not lead to a restoration of the dynasty of the Idrisids. Ultimately, Wattasids under Muhammad ash- Shaykh al -Mahdi (1465-1505) were able to prevail.
