Abysmal Dawn

Abysmal Dawn is an American technical death metal band from Los Angeles, California that was founded in 2003.

History

The band was founded in late 2003 by guitarist and vocalist Charles Elliott, guitarist Jamie Boulanger and drummer Terry Barajas. In the winter of 2004 was followed by a first demo. This could increase their attention the band, so concerts followed along with groups such as Exodus, 3 Inches of Blood, Hate Eternal, Into Eternity and Aborted. In November 2005, work on the debut album, From Ashes, which was produced by John Haddad began. After the album in 2006 had been published on Crash Music, followed by the first U.S. tour, which lasted five weeks and took place with Six Feet Under and Decapitated. They also played concerts with Suffocation, Emperor, Immortal, Goatwhore, Decrepit Birth, Krisiun, Incantation, Exhumed, Disgorge, Impaled and Crisis. In 2007 came bassist Mike Cosio to the band. After the band had played at a few festivals, began work on the second album. In November, the band spent the next three months went in Haddad's new studio to record the album. In February 2008, the band signed a record deal with Relapse Records, what the album under the name Programmed to Consume appeared in May 2008. After Ian Jekelis had come as the new guitarist for the band, Jamie Boulanger left the band. In 2011 followed on the next album Relapse Records Leveling the Plane of Existence.

Style

The band plays technically sophisticated Death Metal, comparable to the early works of Morbid Angel. The guitar riffs are sometimes reminiscent of the melodic death metal bands such as At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity and In Flames.
