Monastery Pili ( 1184 )

The monastery Acey ( Aceyum ) is a former Cistercian abbey and a current Trappist monastery in the municipality Vitreux in Jura, Franche- Comté, France. It is located around 26 km north- northeast of Dole and 7 km north of Gendrey on the banks of the river Ognon.

History

The monastery was founded at the instigation of the Archbishop of Besançon, Anseric de Montréal, and the Count Rainald III. founded by Burgundy in 1136 around 5 km from the establishment of hermits and manned by a founding convention of Kloster Cherlieu. Thus, it belonged to the filiation of Clairvaux Abbey Primary. In a short time the monastery was built six grains Gien. 1184 it populated the daughter founding monastery in Hungary Pili, which existed until 1526. The church was repaired from 1900 to 1910. 1938, the monastery was again raised to the abbey. It is the only inhabited Cistercian monastery in the Franche -Comté.

Buildings and plant

The restored and since 1971, classified as a monument historique church from the 12th century, the nave is separated after the second yoke as an exhibition space, has a achtjochiges nave with two aisles, a transept with two chapels in the east and a flat closed choir.
