Acton (Dorset)

Acton is a hamlet (English hamlet ) in the village of Langton Matravers on the Isle of Purbeck peninsula in the county of Dorset in southern England.

The urbanization Acton is part of the municipality of Langton Matravers and the Purbeck County. Acton is located between the villages of Langton Matravers, Worth Matravers and Kingston, four kilometers directly west of Swanage and about six kilometers southeast of Corfe Castle.

The small town of Acton is surrounded by many quarries and lies at an altitude of about 120 meters above sea level. The hamlet of Acton was built as housing for the quarrymen who worked in the local Purbeck stone quarries. All houses in Acton are built of Purbeck stone.
