Adam Holzman (guitarist)

Adam Holzman ( born September 1, 1960 in New York City ) is an American classical guitarist.

Life

Adam Holzmann got his first guitar lessons at the age of seven by his older brother. He studied music at Florida State University and was instructed by Eliot Fisk, Oscar Ghiglia and Andrés Segovia. He won several international awards, including the 1983 competition of the Guitar Foundation of America.

By his own account he was the first guitarist who played compositions by Roland Dyens in North America. He also published the initial reception of Sergio Assad's watercolors. The American Record Guide judged according to Holzman's details his recording of the Venezuelan Waltzes of Antonio Lauro as a "benchmark".

Holzman is the first professor of guitar at the University of Texas at Austin.
