Adam Ingram (SNP politician)

Adam Ingram ( born May 1, 1951 in Kilmarnock ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Life

Ingram visited the Kilmarnock Academy and then worked in the family business. Then he went to the University of Glasgow and Paisley College, where he earned degrees from the business area. In the following years he worked as a researcher and lecturer at Paisley College and as a business consultant. Ingram enjoys playing golf and is a fan of the football club FC Kilmarnock.

Political career

1983 Ingram joined the SNP and engaged in the regional policy of Ayrshire. In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999, Ingram applied for the direct mandate of the constituency Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, but received only the third-largest share of votes and thus missed the direct mandate of the constituency. But as he was set on the Regional Evaluation of the SNP for the election Region South of Scotland in third place, Ingram received as a result of the election results is one of seven list mandates of the constituency and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the shadow cabinet of SNP Ingram was provided between 2000 and 2003 as Secretary of State for Finance. In the 2003 parliamentary elections, he was again the direct mandate of Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley not win, however, defended his position of choice region. In the shadow cabinet of the SNP, he was provided from 2004 as deputy assistant secretary for children and early childhood education. Although Ingram was able to increase its share of the vote to 13.8% in the 2007 parliamentary elections, he missed one more time the direct mandate of the constituency, but retained his seat on the selection region. In the following the SNP minority government, he held the position of Secretary of State for Children and Early Years. After further tuning gains of 15.5 % Ingram won in the 2011 parliamentary elections for the first time the direct mandate of Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley.
