ADempiere

ADempiere is an open source ERP and CRM software, in addition betrieblichem Accounting also includes functionalities such as materials management, customer relationship management and procurement. Project Structure

The joint project attaches importance to the opinion of all users. Since the community is distributed to over 30 countries on six continents, the project for practical reasons, is led by a council of active contributors. A conductor with the function of a general project manager is appointed by this council. The role of the ADempiere council is:

  • To support decisions of the project manager
  • To accept extensions and contributions to the project
  • To define the strategic project plan
  • To sift specifications and to grant
  • To vote on new functionalities

  • Materials Management ( procurement, storage, disposition )
  • Customer relationship management (sales, service)
  • Managerial Accounting ( Finance, Accounting )
  • Integrated POS solution ( POS workstation )
  • Production planning and control

Architecture

ADempiere has taken over from the Compiere project, the customizable and extensible data dictionary. This architecture provides for the extension of the data catalog concept from the database into the application into it. This in turn allows the management of application objects and their validation rules, as well as the screen layout and the presentation logic from the application itself out. A based on the WfMC and OMG standards workflow engine is used to map the business management process. These features allow a rapid adaptation of the application to business requirements.

Technology

ADempiere has been developed with J2EE technology, in particular using the JBoss Application Server. Currently, the database support is limited to Oracle and PostgreSQL, but database independence is a primary technological goal of the project.

Origin

The ADempiere project was created in September 2006 after disagreements between the Compiere Inc., its developers and the open source community of Compiere project. The community believed Compiere Inc. placed too much emphasis on the purely formal open-source structure of the project and the needs and contributions of the community was ignored. Then the separation of Compiere ™ and simultaneously the formation of the new ADempiere project was decided.
