Afghanistan at the 1936 Summer Olympics

Afghanistan participated in the XI. 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin for the first time participate in the Olympics. In the German capital, the country was represented by a delegation of 15 athletes. 14 of them competed in the competitions. Team was accompanied by two representatives of the National Olympic Committee of Afghanistan, Ghazi Shah Mahmud Khan and Shahzada Mohammed Yusuf Khan, as well as the hockey referee Yaqub. There were no female athletes in attendance for the country.

The Afghan hockey team finished their preliminary round group in second place. However, this was not enough to qualify for the semifinals. In the consolation round, but had no impact on the final ranking, Afghanistan won its two games against Belgium ( 4-1) and the USA ( 3-0).
