Against All Flags is an American adventure film from the year 1952.

Action

The film is set in 1700. For England the trade with India is becoming increasingly important. Interference by pirates as highly unwelcome. Particularly stubborn when raiding British merchant ships are the pirates of Madagascar. An English naval officer, Brian Hawke is therefore introduced as a spy with the pirates to spy on the fortifications of its port and sabotage. After alleged desertion from the Navy he can win the confidence of the pirates and is a member of the gang of sinister Captain Roc Brasiliano. He also learns the fiery pirate Spitfire Stevens know. Stevens falls in love with Hawke and is jealous when Hawke the beautiful Indian princess Patma and her governess Molvina MacGregor rescues prior to the sale as a slave. By Hawke can conquer the pirate fortress a British warship, and as a reward for his deeds requires Hawk successful amnesty for Stevens to go with her to a future together.

Remake

The film is considered to be the last significant adventure film with the then already hard alcoholic Errol Flynn. He follows the usual schemes of earlier successes of him as Captain Blood and Robin Hood, King of the Vagabonds.

In 1967 a remake entitled The pirate king. Doug McClure took over the role of Errol Flynn here. Jill St. John played the role of Maureen O'Hara.
