Agnolo Gaddi

Agnolo Gaddi (* around 1350 in Florence, † October 16, 1396 ) was an Italian painter.

Life

Agnolo Gaddi was the son of the painter Taddeo Gaddi, from which he also received his first art lessons. The painter Gaddo Gaddi was his grandfather. Early had Gaddi, to earn his livelihood, exercise in addition to his artistic vocation a commercial profession.

In the chapel of the belt of the Virgin in Prato, he presented the story of Mary and the legend of her attire in fresco represents the Franciscan church of Santa Croce in Florence Gaddi adorned with frescoes, which were the finding of the Cross. Altar of his paintings are in the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, in the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella (Florence) and the church of Santo Spirito. The last years of his life Gaddi was hardly artistic, but almost exclusively worked as a businessman.
