Agustín Pedro Justo

General Agustín Pedro Justo Rolón ( born February 26, 1876 in Concepción del Uruguay ( Entre Ríos ); † January 11, 1943 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine military, diplomat and politician.

Political career

During the presidential Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear (1922-1928) was Agustín Justo Minister of War. How Alvear he belonged to the antipersonalistischen wing of the Unión Cívica Radical, a flow which was in opposition to Alvear's predecessor and party colleague Hipólito Yrigoyen ( 1916-1922 ). In 1930, two years after Yrigoyens re-election, Justo supported the military coup General José Félix Uriburus who drove the elected president from office.

After Uriburu had begun publicly - inspired by Italian Fascism - to sympathize corporatist ideas, he was responsible for the oligarchic circles, who were behind the coup of 1930, no longer acceptable. In this situation, Justo was the economically liberal views clung, for preferred candidate of the oligarchy for the Argentine presidency.

After marked by massive counterfeiting elections Justo was born on February 20, 1932 President. He had set out for an oligarchy of related party coalition, which consisted of the conservative Partido Nacional Demócrata, anti- personnel managers and a legal elimination of the Socialist Party ( Partido Socialista Independiente ). This party cartel, called Concordancia, lasted until 1943 electoral fraud in power.

Justos presidency was marked by a strong influence of British capital to the local economy and rapid industrialization and urbanization processes, which changed the Argentine society sustainable. His tenure ended on 20 February 1938.
