Ahmanson Theatre

It is one of the four main venues of the Los Angeles Music Center. Renovated in 1994, can its seating capacity, as needed, to configure 1600-2100.

Through the generosity of philanthropist Robert H. Ahmanson could begin construction on March 9, 1962. The theater opened on 12 April 1967, the play " More Stately Mansions " by Eugene O'Neill. The main roles Ingrid Bergman, Arthur Hill and Colleen Dewhurst played.

Since then had a variety of dramas, musicals, comedies and classic works on display, including six world premieres of Neil Simon and works by Wendy Wasserstein, August Wilson, Albert Ramsdell Gurney, Terrence McNally, John Guare and Edward Albee. At the Ahmanson Theatre co-productions including " Amadeus ," " Smokey Joe 's Cafe ", "The Most Happy Fella " and " The Drowsy Chaperone " has been shown for a number of Broadway plays.

The Ahmanson Theatre is one of the largest theaters in the West Coast. Theater season is almost year-round, it begins in the early fall and lasts until the end of summer. In December 2006, here is a musical adaptation of Tim Burton's film Edward Scissorhands was performed. Directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne was the adaptation.
