Ahmed Barada

Ahmed Barada ( born April 25, 1977 in Cairo ) is a retired Egyptian squash players. In 1999, he became Vice World Champion in singles and World Champion with the team.

Career

Ahmed Barada 1994 Junior World Champion after he won against his compatriot Omar El Borolossy in five sets. His greatest successes came in the 1999 season, when he lost the final of the Super Series against Peter Nicol. He also reached the final of the World Cup, which he also lost against Peter Nicol in front of a home crowd in Cairo with 15:9, 15:13 and 15:11. With the Egyptian national team, he won the World Cup after a final victory over Wales. His best finish in the world ranking was number two in December 1998. At the 1997 World Games in Lahti, he won the gold medal ahead of Derek Ryan from Ireland.

In 2000, Ahmed Barada was stabbed by an unknown assailant outside his home in Cairo. After he had recovered from this injury, there was only a short comeback. In August 2001, Ahmed Barada announced his retirement from professional squash.

Ahmed Barada is now working as a professional singer.
