Air Liberté, later also Airlib, was a French airline based in Rungis and base at the airport Paris -Orly.

History

Air Liberté was founded in 1987 and started flight operations in April 1988 with a leased McDonnell Douglas MD -83.

1996 became the airline into financial difficulties, with a loss of 1 billion francs ( € 152 million ) and 1997 took over British Airways 70 % of the shares. Air Liberté was added to the TAT, from the Tunisian daughter was born today Nouvelair.

In March 2001, affected by the bankruptcy of SAirGroup AOM French Airlines named in Air Liberté and in September of the same year the two companies merged to Airlib. In 2003 Airlib finally announced, however, to insolvency and put in sequence the flight operations.

Objectives

There were mainly operated holiday destinations in Europe and the Mediterranean area. However, there were intercontinental connections. A route to Montreal was established in 1993 and Réunion and the Caribbean were also on the flight plan.
