Ã…ke Edwardson

Åke Edwardson ( born March 10, 1953 in Vrigstad south of Jönköping ) is a Swedish author of detective novels.

Life

He is one of the most successful Swedish authors of the genre, alongside Henning Mankell, Liza Marklund, Sjöwall / Wahlöö, Håkan Nesser, Arne Dahl and Stieg Larsson, whom he personally knew very well, and as Edwardson was previously a journalist. Åke Edwardson lives in Gothenburg.

Edwardson worked before its actual writer career over 20 years as a journalist on behalf of the UN in the Middle East and Cyprus, as well as a freelance journalist in other parts of the world, wrote this about sports, travel, literature, and foreign policy. He was co-author of two textbooks on the subject of basic journalism. At the University of Gothenburg he trained journalists.

Since the mid- 1990s Edwardson writes crime novels. All of his novels to Commissioner Erik Winter in Gothenburg, Sweden, have also been published in German language. Åke Edwardson reads regularly the publications of the German editions of his books in Germany. Åke Edwardson speaks German, but the reading in German assumes regularly Oliver Mommsen.

In a SPIEGEL interview online Edwardson declared on 21 June 2008, after 10 episodes of its protagonists winter post no other detective novels more. After a four year break but then appeared in 2012, an eleventh Commissioner Winter novel.
