Aki Parviainen

Aki Parviainen ( Aki Parviainen Uolevi; born October 26, 1974 in Helsinki) is a Finnish javelin thrower.

Aki Parviainen was already set up as a teenager Altersklassenweltbestleistungen in the javelin. In 1991 he won at the European Junior Championships bronze. 1992 at the Junior World Championships he won the gold medal. As an adult, he succeeded in the javelin nation Finland from 1998 to 2003, six years in a row to win the national championship. At the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000 he finished 5th.

At the World Championships he achieved a remarkable series: 1995 and 2005 he missed as each ninth the final battle, but in between he occupied the positions 8 (1997 ), 1 ( 1999), 2 ( 2001) and 5 ( 2003). Thus he was able to continue the successful series of Finnish javelin thrower even in the era of the Czech Jan Zelezny and Steve Backley British.

In European Championships he could with space 9 (1998) and No. 8 (2002 ), however, do not shine.

His best performance stands at 93.09 meters since 1999.

  • 1999 World Championships in Seville: gold with 89.52 m
  • 2001 World Championships in Edmonton: silver with 91.31 m
