Al Dreares

Albert Alfred " Al " Dreares ( born January 4, 1929 in Key West, Florida) is an American drummer of modern jazz.

Al Dreares, who was a school friend of Fats Navarro, studied at the Hartnett Conservatory in New York. His career began in the bands of Paul Williams 1953/54, and Teddy Charles, 1955. The following year, he also worked with Charles Mingus and Randy Weston, 1957 Freddie Redd, on the album San Francisco Suite he participated, as well as Kenny Burrell. In 1958 he played with Gigi Gryce, Jerome Richardson and 1959 with Phineas Newborn, and a private ensemble. He also played with Mal Waldron, Frank Strozier, Freddie McCoy and Bennie Green with recordings; Later he played with Don Pullen, Harold Ousley (1972 ), Paul Quinichette (1976) and Slide Hampton (1978). From 1979 to 1983 he appeared in Brooklyn on its own formation; In 1985 he moved to Miami.
