Alabama State Route 28

The Alabama State Route 28 (abbreviated AL 28) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Alabama, which runs in an east - west direction.

The State Route begins at the Alabama State Route 17 south of Emelle and ends after 156 kilometers, near Darlington at the Alabama State Route 21

Course

From the junction of State Route 17, the road runs at first in an easterly direction and strikes north of Livingston on the route of Interstates 20 and 59 in the north of Livingston AL 28 uses for a distance of about five kilometers, the route of the U.S. Highway 11. west of Moscow uses them for a few kilometers, the route of U.S. Highways 80 and meets in Linden on U.S. Highway 43 and to the Alabama State Routes 13 and 69

The State Route 28 leaves Linden eastwards and crossed in Thomaston from Alabama State Route 25. In Consul State Route 66 branches off to the east, while the AL 28 leaves the village to the southeast. After near the village of Catherine on the Alabama State Route 5 hits, branches off State Route 162. Then they crossed the William " Bill" Dannelly Reservoir on the Millers Ferry Lock and Dam.

North of Camden branches off State Route 221 from the south, before the AL 28 applies to the urban area on the Alabama State Routes 10, 41, 164 and 265. The State Route leaves the city together with the AL 10 to the east. After about 15 kilometers, they split up before the Alabama State Route 28 terminates at the AL 21 near Darlington.

History

The Alabama State Route 28 was opened in 1940 as a link between Linden and Camden. In 1948, the distance between Camden and Miller's Ferry was built. Since the expansion to the west in 1957 the route via Moscow leads to Livingston, replacing in part the Alabama State Route 132
