Alacranes de Durango

The Club Alacranes from Durango, the capital of the state of the same name, commonly referred to as Alacranes de Durango, is a Mexican football club who played 1999-2011 in the second division in Mexico.

History

The Club Alacranes was founded in 1958. The club name accordingly ( Alacranes means scorpions ) is his emblem a scorpion.

By winning both tournaments in the Segunda División in the 1998/99 season ( both the Torneo Invierno 1998 and the Torneo Verano 1999) assured the club to promotion to the then still known as La Liga 'A' second football league in Mexico, which has been the season 2009/ 10 supports the new name Liga de Ascenso.

For the first time in the Apertura 2002 the club managed to qualify for the championship final, in which the Alacranes but in the quarter- final against CD Tapatío, a farm team of Chivas Guadalajara failed.

In the following three seasons, in which the Alacranes failed to qualify for the finals, they parted always in the quarterfinals of: in the Clausura 2005 compared Colima, in the Apertura 2005 against Cruz Azul Oaxaca and in the Apertura 2006 against Cruz Azul Hidalgo. Only with their overall fifth and so far last finals appearance in the Clausura 2008, they were able to advance to the semifinals, where they lost to eventual winners León with 0:0 and 2:3.
