Alamo Heights is a city in Bexar County in the U.S. state of Texas. In the census of 2010 the city had a total population of 7,031 people.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.8 km ², without significant water areas.

Demography

In the census in 2000 were 7,319 people, 3,197 households, and 1,819 families residing in the city, determined. The population density is 1,528 per km ². There are 3,460 housing units at an approximate density of 722 per km ². Ethnically, the town population was as follows: 93.80 % White, 0.56% African American, 0.33 % Native American, 0.85 % Asian, 0.01 % residents of the Pacific islands, with 2.81% of other ethnic affiliation and 1.64 % with belonging to several ethnic groups. 13.55% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any origin.

There are 3,197 households out of which 28.1% accommodate children under the age of 18, 46.5 % are married couples living together, 7.9 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 43.1 % head are non-families. 38.3 % of all households are managed by individuals and 12.9% lives someone who is 65 or older, alone. The average household size of 2.16, the average family 2.91.

In the city 22.3 % of the population under 18, 6.2 % from 18 to 24, 29.2% 24-44, 25.1% between 45 and 64, and 17.2% are 65 years or older. The average age is 40 years. For every 100 females are 82.5 males. In all women over the age of 18 are 75.0 males.
