Alan Averill

Alan Averill (pseudonym AA Nemtheanga ) ( born August 26, 1975 in Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish musician who is best known as a singer of Irish pagan metal band Primordial.

Life

Averill grew up in Sutton, North Dublin, and attended Mount Temple secondary school. The English band Venom exerted a great influence on him, but it was mainly Bathory Under the Sign of the Black Mark, that he " made it clear that I could not do much with the current mainstream Metal [ ... ]. I bought it the end of '87 as a tape, and when, Massacre ' crashed out of the speakers, had the same effect on me as Maidens, Prowler ' a few years before. This was a moment that would change my life. Bathory was my band, our band. The ' Not' thrash kids and skateboarders despised us - but we felt confirmed when, Blood Fire Death ' was released. In the moment when I saw the album alongside all the Ed Repka artwork, I knew that our taste in music would never be the old ones. And I was right. Bathory sounded really bad ... "1987 or 1988, he also began with the tape -trading and discovered bands from the former black metal underground for themselves. He joined Primordial 1991, after he had seen a notice in a local music store. He was also the lead singer of the Doom metal band Void of Silence, this left but on 17 April 2009 due to his employment with Primordial. He is also the frontman of the Bathory tribute band Twilight of the Gods.

In 2008, Averill received a journalism degree at Dublin City University and worked for the magazine Zero Tolerance. He traveled in early 2010 to Canada there along with Vermin and J. Read ( Axis of Advance, Conqueror ) to host the vocals on Blood Revolts debut album Indoctrine. The album was released in late 2010 on Profound Lore and Invictus. Since 2010 he is also representative of A & R at Metal Blade Records, he founded his own label Poison Tongue as an offshoot.

Ideology

Nemtheanga expressed to look at more than political and less as a spiritual person and indifference as modern evil. In particular, the ( mostly English ) lyrics of the band themselves expressed a preoccupation with Irish tradition and history; in contrast to the band Void of Silence, in the Averill is also active, the texts turn at Primordial less to him than to more general topics. Black Metal, however, based, as he says, " always on a spiritual or idealistic point of view. The [ ... ] texts and the general aesthetics had satanic, esoteric, occult or even be religious to orthodox ' pass as. Plain and simple: no deviations, no compromises. I've seen so 1992, and I also still is. " Is inspired Averill, among other statues in old European churches and the brutality shown by them. Primordial he sees as art rather than entertainment. In interviews and lyrics he often emphasizes values such as strength, honor and a fighting spirit.
