Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences

The Alanus College of Arts and Social Sciences is since 2002 a state-accredited private art school in Alfter near Bonn. Bearer of the University gGmbH is the Alanus University, whose sole shareholder is the Alanus Foundation. Principal shareholder of Alanus Foundation is the Software AG - Foundation. The board of the Foundation Alanus form Jens Maurer ( Software AG - Foundation ) and Alexander Link ( Alnatura GmbH).

History

The university is established in 1973, emerged from a free, anthroposophic oriented art study site and keeps the tradition of a cross- connection of professional artistic activities upright. She is active in the fields of art and science in teaching and research. Since January 2003, the financial statements of Arts degree programs Alanus University are those of state academies and art schools equal. Since 2006, the degrees in science courses are equivalent to those at universities. Opened in 2009, the newly built Campus II, which now houses the departments of architecture, education, science, art therapy and business. Software AG - Foundation invested 14 million euros in the construction and leased the building to the Alanus University. In May 2010, the Alanus University became the first non-governmental art school institutional accreditation by the Science Council. The namesake of the university is Alanus from Insulis (around 1114-1203 ), who taught at the School of Chartres.

Admission to the sculpture and painting studies is bound to take an aptitude test. Similarly, the admission to the courses of study drama, eurythmy, architecture, art education therapy, art therapy / social art as well as art therapy.
