Alarije

Alarije is a white grape variety native of Extremadura in southwestern Spain. She is in the D.O. Ribera del Guadiana approved and in the subzone Cañamero this DO recommended for predominant use. The main growing areas are the provinces of Badajoz and Cáceres. Early 1990s, was raised a cultivated wine of 1093 hectares.

It is believed by Paul Truel that Alarije part of the Malvasia family.

The grape variety is relatively insensitive to heat and drought. It produces straw-yellow wine, which are usually blended with others.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In the ampelography the habit is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open.
  • The large leaves are almost pentagonal five-lobed and indented ( see also the article sheet form). The petiole is V-shaped open. The blade is serrated blunt.
  • The medium sized grape is dichtbeerig. The roundish berries are medium in size, indicated disk-shaped and of a yellowish color, which can be absorbed into amber.

Alarije is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphrodite flowers and is thus self- fruiting. When the wine-growing economic disadvantage is avoided, no return delivered to have male plants grow.
