Albany is a city in the U.S. state of California with 18 539 inhabitants (as of 2010 census ). The city covers an area of 14.1 square kilometers. The city is located in the northwestern corner of Alameda County and was founded in 1908.

The population is mostly of European origin whites, while Latinos make up only ten percent of the population. Other breeds such as African Americans or Asians constitute minorities. The population has increased between 2000 and 2010 by nearly 2000 people.
