Aleksandër Meksi

Aleksandër Meksi ( born March 8, 1939 in Tirana) is an Albanian politician.

Meksi was the first non-communist Prime Minister of Albania from 1992 to 1997 under the presidency of Sali Berisha. Before that, he spent a year as deputy chairman Parliament. After the riots of 1997 in the country Meksi was forced to resign. His successor was Bashkim Fino of the opposition Socialist Party ( SP). He is one of the founders of the Democratic Party of Albania (DP ), but today not hold any more official.

Educated at the University of Tirana civil published in 2004 books on churches in Albania and the restoration of historical monuments. In communist Albania, he was long active as a restaurateur at the Archaeological Institute. Meksi is married and has two children.
