Aleksandr Potashov

Alyaksandr Pataschou (White Russian Аляксандр Паташоў, English transcription Aliaksandr Patashou, Russian Александр Поташёв, Alexandr Potaschow, Aleksandr Potashov, . Born March 12, 1962) is a former Belarusian goers, who took until 1991 for the Soviet Union and in 1992 for the Commonwealth of Independent States.

1981 Pataschou finished second at the Junior European Championships in the 10,000 m track walking.

At the 1988 Olympics in 3:41:00 hours Potaschow was fourth in the 50 km walk, however, had more than a minute adrift of third-placed Hartwig Gauder from the GDR.

At the World Athletics Championships 1991 in Tokyo, the competition has already started about 50 km at 7.00 local time. Nevertheless, the race at 25 degrees and 97 % humidity for the participants was an ordeal. After the two Soviet mountaineers Alexander Potaschow and Andrei Perlow had jointly prepared well ahead of third-placed Hartwig Gauder, they fought to the finish line not against each other but crossed the finish line together, each with an arm on the shoulder of teammate. After 3 hours, 53 minutes and nine seconds, the target camera for Pataschou recorded a hundredth of a second ahead, so Pataschou gold and silver Perlow received.

Perlow won the following year at the 1992 Olympic Games gold while Pataschou was disqualified. From 1993, launched Potaschow for Belarus, as at the European Championships in 1994, where he was, however, disqualified again.

Alyaksandr Pataschou is 1,87 tall and weighed about 80 kg competition times.
