Alekšince

Alekšince ( Alaxinetz German, Hungarian Elecske ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1667 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Nitra, a part of the Nitriansky kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the southern part of the hill country Nitrianska pahorkatina ( part of the Danube 's hill country ) on the middle course of the river ANDAC, which belongs to the river system of Nitra. The little more than 15 km ² municipal area is deforested and covered with black and brown soils. The center is located at an altitude of 160 m nm and is 15 kilometers Hlohovecký and Nitra away.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1156 as Alexu writing and initially belonged to the manor of Nitra castle, then to nobles from different families. 1601 the village was burnt down by the Turks in 1664 and was their tribute. 1828 are 72 houses and 509 inhabitants, who were mostly employed in agriculture, is recording.
