Alex Barris

Alex Paul Barris ( born September 16, 1922 in New York City; † January 15, 2004 in Toronto ) was an Emmy Award-nominated Canadian emcee and scriptwriter.

Career

Born in New York Barris began his television career in 1956 as host of The Barris Beat. In 1959, Barris & Company. For both shows, he wrote his own scripts, he also appeared in the television show Front Page Challenge as a guest. In the 1970s, he wrote scripts for various television productions such as A Night with Bobby Darin and The Doris Day Special, for which he was nominated for an Emmy.

1998 Barris was awarded the Order of Canada.
